My passion is creating a vivid record of your day through reportage and storybook photography. To me, wedding photography needs to be around 80% reportage, almost like a travelogue of what is in fact an emotional journey. Passion for quality runs through my work and I prefer to capture the wedding from engagement shoot through the entire day and then create an exquisite album. That way I can ensure I create something fantastic that will inspire you to relive your day in 60 years time. And more - because of my eye and because I work with a second shooter you will see more of your day. Many couples that I work with find the experience to be an inspiration in itself.
I love exploring colour and interacting with people. I particularly love making gorgeous records of weddings. I specialise in reportage with a few original portraits and group shots, and I also love family photography.
Read More... I first started wedding photography in 1990, and I have done many different kinds of weddings, from diy weddings to boutique civil ceremonies at the Gherkin to a sumptuous Audrey Hepburn inspired wedding in a villa near Rome. I trained at Edinburgh University and with St Martin's College of Art and I assisted top photographers John Glover and Martin Usborne. I also speak 3 languages ; fluent French, fluent Italian and some Spanish. My work has been featured all over the world, including in Vogue and Junior Magazine, and I am accredited with the international guild, the Artistic Guild of Wedding Photojournalists (AGWPJA). For many years I worked for The Telegraph and other broadsheets as a travel journalist, and this sense of travel photography infuses my work.
I use a mixture of colour and black and white to give different nuances, and I am passionate about quality, which has to be present at every stage of the process, from the equipment I use to the printer who makes the album. My personality has been described as 'bubbly', and I make sure we have a lot of fun on the shoot, which comes out in the pictures. It means that couples can concentrate on relaxing and having fun while I concentrate on getting great wedding photographs.
I cover London and the home counties, and I also offer some destination weddings, particularly to Paris, Rome and their surrounds, and any countries where my languages can be used. I also find that couples whose families are from different countries find it useful to have a photographer who speaks different languages.
When I'm not working I love being with my family, being in nature, cooking and being surrounded by colour. If I can't get out to the country for a good roam or to visit a garden, then I like to say hello to the Waterlilies at the Tate, for refreshment.
