Andy Normand Dowd

ARTISTIC WEDDING PHOTOJOURNALIST FROM SPRINGFIELD in MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES

When I was 6 years old, my dad bought me my first camera: a Spy Gear Kodak 110 with a clip-on around-the-corner mirror and a fake box of Good & Plenty to hide it in. Like my dad, I carried my camera with me everywhere. And I went through film fast. My photography habit was curbed only by my limited income as a paperboy. Later, in middleschool, I learned how to develop darkroom prints, a skill that I further developed in college.

While photographing weddings, I focus on capturing not only the big moments, but, perhaps more importantly, the small, fleeting ones. A light touch, a quick glance, a genuine smile. Couples deserve to have an unobtrusive photographer that is skilled at documenting every aspect of the wedding day without influencing or changing the unique, natural reactions. Couples may or may not always see me - that's part of my goal - but I will be there, making sure they have pictures that will take their breath away for the rest of their lives.
