Jennifer Tai invested 12 years into writing as a journalist to discover she was better at photography.

In the summer of 2008, Jenn picked up her SLR professionally for the first time and started with family photography. After building her portfolio for three months, Jenn launched her business on August 30th 2008 and shot her first wedding the winter of 2009. She discovered her preference for the energetic pace of weddings which is reminiscent of her days as a tech writer for the exciting IT industry back in Southeast Asia, where she wrote for some Malaysian newspapers, CNet Asia, Computer World and PC World.

Documentary and street photography being Jenn's favorite niches, she began to refine her style using her long time favorite, film for the classic, timeless portraits, and digital for the faster pace of documentary photography. Read More...

Four years into her career, Jenn won several accolades from various professional photography organizations (and hopes to win several AGWPJA awards one day!). Her mentors are Jonathan Canlas of Film is Not Dead, and she is also largely inspired by the work of Mexican photographer Fer Juaristi, Seattle photographer Jenny Jimenez and Slovenian photographer Samo Rovan.

Jenn currently shoots about 12-15 weddings a year during the Seattle wedding season, but hopes to increase it to 20 a year shooting nationwide and internationally. Jenn has photographed weddings in Malaysia, where she's from, and hopes to travel more for her work. Since Jenn is also a mother of two, maintaining a limited quantity of weddings allows her to sustain her status as a boutique photographer without burning out creatively, and tend to her parental duties properly.
