Ceremony: Images that capture guests and participants throughout pre-ceremony, vow-exchange, and receiving line activity.
Judges Comment: Great action, good moment, clean and full of life. The extra saturation really gives the image punch and adds to the excitement!
Judges Comment: This quiet moment between father and daughter s nicely toned, not over-processed. A slight burn on both the father's shirt and bride's dress would focus the moment.
Judges Comment: A good way of seeing a scenario that happens at every wedding. The strong graphic elements complete this image. I find the black line across the bottom of the frame distracting. This image could have benefitted and been made stronger if cropped at the bride's waist.
Judges Comment: A great sense of place, beautiful and muted color palette along with superb composition make this a winner.
Judges Comment: This quirky and abstract image has energy, a nice duo-tone leaves me wanting to know more.
Judges Comment: Focusing too heavily on the bride and groom will result in missing the subtle moments on the sidelines. The overall toning, added saturation and slight blur to the edges give this image a positive and dreamy feel.
Judges Comment: By de-saturating this joyful moment you remain within the moment and aren't distracted by other, possible color elements in the image.
Judges Comment: Shooting against a large brick wall can become overwhelming and distracting from a visual standpoint. By throwing the bride, groom and wall out of focus, and keeping the congregation in focus the photographer thoughtfully solved the problem. I would suggest a tighter crop, losing the candle on the left, the challis on the right and the stair on the bottom.
Judges Comment: We've all shot a ceremony from the back of the 'church' and usually they show the event but lack much emotion. The dreamy, fairy-tale toning and hard vignette enhance this image and would make a great album spread!
Judges Comment: A great moment and clean background bring this image to the forefront. Ceremonies can become long and somewhat moment-less (except the rings and kiss) but staying with the couple, throughout the ceremony, sometimes brings along gems like this one.
Judges Comment: By splitting the frame almost in half with dark and light, the image reflects past and future, old and young and the idea of moving forward. By making it B&W the thought reflected behind the photograph is brought to the foreground even more. One piece that is a bit distracting is the object in the foreground on the left side of the image. By taking it out, the viewer would really be drawn to the father's hand reaching for his daughter.
Judges Comment: This image feels like a painting. I'd love to see it printed on highly textured fine art paper to push the dreamy feel even further. The image has a lovely sense of place with great modeled light to move you through the photograph.
Judges Comment: Old folks on the beach are bound to lend themselves to a fun photo. Keeping your eyes open before the ceremony happens is a great way of capturing the players on a wedding day.
Judges Comment: With a slight tilt of the camera, a nice moment becomes graphically pleasing as well. The vignette helps to keep your eye on the bride's joyful face.
Judges Comment: It's great to keep an eye on people's hands which tend to reflect how they are feeling. This groom comes across as relaxed and calm. The photograph also reflects the couple's style without overshadowing it by changing the colors or de-saturating the tones.
Judges Comment: Clean, simple and elegant come to mind when looking at this photograph.
Judges Comment: The subtle layering of warm tones throughout the image coupled with the dark edges and angled composition really bring this image together.
Judges Comment: The moment before heading down the aisle is a private yet momentous one. Congrats to the photographer for keeping an eye on the bride while positioning themselves for the ceremony. In keeping with the quiet moment, the photographer de-saturated the scene so we find a hint of the bride's face in the upper right corner of the frame.
Judges Comment: The well balanced, overall ceremony photograph lends itself to the classic toning done by the photographer. The image is well-vignetted and leads your eye directly to the bride and groom. Removing the speakers on either side of the venue would further reflect the organic feel of the image.
