Details: "Details" images are tighter shots on some of the day’s textures including clothes, rings, linens, flowers and faces.
Judges Comment: eat eye! The image really makes you look through it to capture all of the elements. The natural flow and strong tight composition bring several elements of the bride's day together.
Judges Comment: What a lovely quirky moment in the middle of a wedding. Good eye and strong composition by the photographer.
Judges Comment: This is a great way to bring together the sense of place and event in one photograph. The vignetting is a bit heavy and could be scaled back a bit.
Judges Comment: The heads in the water balance the feet really well. Couple the subject with the blueish toning & strong vignette and the image comes to life!
Judges Comment: Forcing your subject into a corner can really benefit the movement across a photograph. The intricacy of the bride's gown and flowers offset the start black 2/3rds of the image and really force you to linger on the gown. Keeping the gown blueish and not forcing it white softens the transition between the gown and black side of the frame.
Judges Comment: Blowing out the background is a great start to this simple yet elegant image. The subtle toning keeps just enough of the detail in dress to make the image feel light but not feel like I'm missing information about the dress.
Judges Comment: The burst of orange flowers is offset by cross-processing the image. A strong diagonal composition pushes you through the photo and keeps you looking. Little things like cleaning up the blue squares (specks of trash) and leaving a bit more detail in the dress will make this image even stronger.
Judges Comment: Classic, timeless elegance is reflected in this well toned image. The vertical lines of the veil contrast the looped hair which is offset by the ornaments. It's a simple moment that has been pushed along by great toning
Judges Comment: I feel like I'm being smothered by the bride's veil. This image is all about angles and graphics. Toning the sky to a deep blue pushes your eye back down in to the layers of veil.
Judges Comment: It's hard to understand when a fisheye lens will accentuate or ruin a photograph. In this case, the fisheye really accents the location of the shoes and by processing the image as a duo-tone all of the elements in the photograph (the shoes, building, windowsill, reflection) really work together.
Judges Comment: Nice rock! Good thinking by the photographer to place the rings on something a little different and reflect the shape of the diamonds on the groom's band. The shallow depth of focus and simple graphic background makes your eye follow the leaf down the image and land on the rock.
Judges Comment: This nicely back-lit image shows off the bride's ornate dress. Her shoulders and arms become beautiful shapes that the light has played with to keep your eye dancing all around this image. Thanks for turning it B&W and not trying to infuse color into the moment.
Judges Comment: #15 It's all in the hands, the old and and young and passing along the rights of marriage. The toning of the image even feels like a 1970's print (minus the grain) with the heavy burning around the edges. The skin tones are well-done and don't get lost in the heavy burning.
Judges Comment: This nice detail brings the brides day-before celebration to the forefront and reflects her contemporary style by letting us see her dress choice. The image could have been cleaned up a bit by taking out some of the spots on the window that are a bit distracting. You may also want to saturate the image a bit more to make the hand really pop!
Judges Comment: The photo feels awkward all around, which is not always a bad thing. The steam, the direction of the image and the soft subtle toning all accent each other to make the image slightly uncomfortable and mysterious.
Judges Comment: The warm orange tones are used well throughout the image. A hint of fill light skimming the cake would have made this image pop
Judges Comment: The in-camera distortion and saturated image brings this funky image to life. Nice use of off-camera flash:)
Judges Comment: A simple yet elegant image coupled with nice burning and some grain makes this image. Keeping the purse and hands slightly off-center also keeps your eye moving through the photo.
