Ceremony: Images that capture guests and participants throughout pre-ceremony, vow-exchange, and receiving line activity.
Judges Comment: This serene image is filled with emotion and tells part of the ceremony story. The seagulls add an element of movement that flows against the line of men as well as helps with a sense of place. Sweet image!
Judges Comment: We really like the tone of this image and composition which uses the lines across the ceiling very well. Nice moment, the split second before the kiss, instead of the kiss itself. Whether you flashed it or caught a guest's flash, beautiful catch!
Judges Comment: Sometimes composing a person within a frame becomes gimmicky but this image is anything but a gimmick. Nice seeing by the photographer as the bride waits to walk down the aisle.
Judges Comment: What a great image and a nice look by the photographer as the couple races somewhere. A good hustle by the photographer along with being prepared and thinking ahead paid off with a nice frame.
Judges Comment: Good emotion along with subtle toning really brings this image together. A nice moment and a great perspective.
Judges Comment: The chocolate tones and blurred edges really help focus the image to the bride and her escort. The vintage toning provides a nostalgic and timeless feel. Congrats for not over-doing it.
Judges Comment: A nicely layered image provides a good sense of place and gives this image depth and substance. Good toning and vignette keeps your eye focused on the moment.
Judges Comment: Simple and clean, the blown background makes this emotional moment pop!
Judges Comment: This image would have to be a monster print to read but we like the way the photographer thought to use the surroundings to make a different type of ceremony image. The dark lower half benefits the image by forcing your eye upward to the moment.
Judges Comment: Nice seeing by the photographer to look away from the obvious action to capture a quiet side moment. Toning the image warm along with a nicely done dodge keeps your eye focused on the subject. The image would read much quicker if the top corners were burnt down a bit.
Judges Comment: We went back and forth on this image but after taking more time and really looking at the tone and quality of light, it ended up in our top 20. The quality of light makes the bride pop out of the image. The image could be made stronger with a crop from the left (up to the flowers on the pew) along with a crop from the top (remove some of the excess darkness).
Judges Comment: This is a lovely image with average toning. The flow of the veil and dress work well with the crack in the ground. While the added grain / noise helps accentuate the image, the vignette (which feels too heavy and uneven) unfortunately detracts from the moment.
Judges Comment: This image is fun and light, with a good entry point of large bubbles in the foreground. It's nice to have the couple slightly off-center with the majority of the guests along the right side of the frame. The image is a little hot. We would have liked to have seen more detail in the bride's dress and a bit more toning down of the hot spots on their faces. Dodge out the groom's face a bit, darken her dress and the surrounding pavement and you have a wonderful, finished image.
Judges Comment: A great moment that captures the chaos right after the ceremony. The groomsmen, wedding planner and guests all add to the layering in this image.
Judges Comment: Congrats on getting close and capturing this joyous moment. One step closer would have been even better. Go ahead, just push yourself in! It's great to photograph Indian weddings because of the accessibility to the couple during the ceremony. You may want to burn down the corners in order to keep the eye focused on action.
Judges Comment: A nice angle that shows the intimacy of the venue as well as the guests (beautiful highlights on the guests by the way).
Judges Comment: This is a clean, well-composed emotional moment with a good use of texture and vignette. Be sure to survey your backgrounds before firing the shutter. A couple feet lower would have really cleaned up the background.
Judges Comment: We like the graphic quality and punchy toning of this b&w image. A stronger burn on the left side of the frame would only improve this image.
Judges Comment: What a great sense of place in a very scenic location. The image looks washed out and could use more density and contrast. What a wonderful scene. We'd love to see more from this venue, especially a few taken closer to the young cowboy.
Judges Comment: It's nice to see an image that challenges the eye and this one does exactly that. The dark area on the right side of the frame is distracting and the overall tonality is too light. Darkened the mids and black point, crop a tad off the right and you have a nice image.
