Ceremony: Images that capture guests and participants throughout pre-ceremony, vow-exchange, and receiving line activity.
Judges Comment: Very well done. While I have seen this angle many times the use of selective motion really helps set this image apart. The blurry rails on the side and the slight blur of the dress accentuated by the sharpness of the flowers is really nice. I wish the moment were a fraction of a second earlier so that none of the dress or flowers were hidden but it is still an excellent image.
Judges Comment: The contrast of the white horse and carriage against the darker toned background is great. The reflection adds another nice touch. I played with a crop on this coming down from the top and up from the bottom just beneath the reflection. I also looked at extending the water on the left side with said crop and the image is even stronger. Either way this is very nicely done.
Judges Comment: Fantastic light combined with the simple gesture of the dress contribute to make this a really nice shot. Great job.
Judges Comment: Once again gesture. This time the simple gesture created by holding the flowers in the air sets this shot apart from the norm. Without gesture this would be nothing unique. The light is nice and I am glad that there is still detail in the back of the brides dress. The toned black and white works well here. Probably would have straightened the angle in the doorway.
Judges Comment: Everything about this image works. The tone of the background with the red carpet is a nice touch and the detail in the cathedral is fantastic. Great job.
Judges Comment: I love the selective focus. It is a nice touch and it works here. The color palette is great and the punch or clarity on the flowers helps a lot. The only thing I am not thrilled with is the vignetting in the top corners and especially don't like the blue effect in one corner and warm tone in the other. Still a great image but it would be stronger without the vignette.
Judges Comment: Simple, clean and nice. This texture of the sand really helps along with the shadows and the toning is a nice touch.
Judges Comment: Nice moment with great light and the gesture created by the birds is perfect. I am not thrilled with the conch shell in the foreground and think the image would be stronger if that was retouched. Once again, I see vignetting which I really think distracts from the image. A gradual gradient in the corners or dropping down from the top could be subtle and add, but the strong vignettes are personally something I find distracting.
Judges Comment: While I have seen this low angle shot done many times, this is one of the best executions I have seen. The detail, color and the reflection all come together proving that something which has been done 100's of times can still be done better. Good job.
Judges Comment: Good gesture and a nice moment and strong color contribute to make this shot work.
Judges Comment: The arch of the palm trees almost create a heart and certainly aids in the composition of this image. Good color and a great use of clarity of mid-tone contrast to give this shot a punch. Nice.
Judges Comment: Another low angle aisle shot done very well. This time it is the soft pink petals and the compression of the lens that brings it all together but once again a nice view of something we see over and over again.
Judges Comment: Ironically we have a digital defect that actually helps this image. The effect of moire on the veil over the face actually works and it maybe the first time I have seen an image with moire that doesn't bother me. It is a nice moment accentuated by the tone of the flowers.
Judges Comment: Nice composition and depth of field along with sharpness helps to really make this image sing. The contrast of the bride and father in black and white and the color in the rest of the image also helps.
Judges Comment: The color of the red carpet against the subtle warm tones of the rest of the image help to make this shot. I played with selectively darkening the clouds which helped to draw attention to the couple and I think that would have been an effective way to make the image more powerful.
Judges Comment: The framing through the trees with the longer lens is a nice touch. Good emotion and gesture.
Judges Comment: There is a nice feeling of American Gothic here. The bubbles work well in conjunction with the quaint little church and the blue sky. The photographer could have done a better job with the sky by adding blue saturation and dropping blue luminance but it is still a nice shot.
Judges Comment: I love the selective focus here and the colors in the background are a nice touch.
Judges Comment: Nice moment captured with good gesture. I love the color on the flowers and the basket, not crazy about the coloring of the brides face and hair. Probably would have kept the coloring limited to the flowers.
Judges Comment: Very nice moment caught. The foreground is distracting and kept this image from placing higher up but there is not much that the photographer could have done.
