Reception: Photographs that document festivities from the cocktail hour through the last dance and departure.
Judges Comment: Great concept and nice execution. I like the selective toning on the bride and groom and love the spherical reflections. I think the shot could have been even stronger if the cake was not illuminated. The message gets across just fine with the bride and groom and I find the cake a little distracting and would have liked have seen the rest of the Brooklyn Bridge instead. Lastly, I would also suggest a crop on the left side on the window frame. Regardless of my suggestions, this shot is still a clear winner.
Judges Comment: The light and fog are great. I really like the shot a lot. The sun is a bit much and I think the shot would be more effective if it was a little smaller but I am sure that the wedding party loved it and in some ways that's all that counts.
Judges Comment: Love the light and the gesture. I would suggest straightening up the horizon line and taking down the wedding dress a bit and selectively tone down the grass and the image would be even stronger.
Judges Comment: Great concept, great design, Great Shot. The bouquet in the air and the tail lights of the car are a nice touch. The toning works very well here. Not crazy about the vignetting as I don't think it adds anything.
Judges Comment: Fantastic gesture. The expression on bride's face adds to the humor of the moment. Well done all the way around.
Judges Comment: I really like the concept and love the backlight on the balloons and on the veil. I probably would have cloned in a few more balloons along the same angle and would like to see a bit more detail in the bride.
Judges Comment: The tungsten sky is great and helps create emphasis on the drama of the clouds. Graphically the shot works well. I would like to see a bit more fill light on the tables and the people.
Judges Comment: The color is great and I love the hands on the back. The shot would be stronger if the audience was selectively lightened just a bit to reveal detail.
Judges Comment: I came back to this image several times. The color is really strong and the light on the glass is a really nice touch. The hot spot on the top right bothers me and I wish it was either toned down or simply extend the orange background across the image.
Judges Comment: Good gesture and emotion help to make this a dynamic image. I think if the background was toned down the sparklers would be more evident and make the image much stronger. Also, I would eliminate the vignetting in the front corners.
Judges Comment: Really nice emotion and moment. The toning and light are excellent. The one thing that bothers me here is the flare coming off the groom's jacket.
Judges Comment: The emotion in this shot is very good. The mouth of the bride says it all. I wish there was a bit more detail in her dress and the spot in the tent next to her head should have been eliminated.
Judges Comment: A refreshing execution of this shot. The look on the groom's face and the focus of all the kids is very good. I wish the horizon line were corrected but this is still a very strong shot.
Judges Comment: A very humorous moment captured well. I looked at this shot tighter and think it is even stronger with a tighter crop.
Judges Comment: Very nice moment and the shoe color is great. Toning and framing are well done. If we could see just a bit of the bride's face it would be even stronger.
Judges Comment: The angle here is good. Nice job of getting a little elevation. The look on the woman's face as she pulls the tie is indeed telling. Nice job.
Judges Comment: Great graphic. The shadows are strong but the image would be even stronger if there was a bit more detail on the left and on the right.
Judges Comment: This is a really nice shot. I debated whether this should have been entered in kids but decided that it isn't just a kid picture and does reflect on the reception. I probably would have cropped in from the right eliminating the wall.
Judges Comment: Good concept and everything works but I wish the strobe were hidden which would make the shot significantly stronger.
Judges Comment: This shot is all about gesture. If this shot were tighter it would have placed higher up. The foreground with the card on the table and the guy on the right hurts an otherwise precious moment.
