Groom: Images from the wedding day in which candid, natural moments of the groom are captured. The groom must be depicted as the main subject in photos submitted in this category. Portraits should not be submitted in this category.
Judges Comment: Great gesture as this groom gazes at off camera action. The image is nicely toned . The crop is a bit tight on the bottom but none of the toes are cut off. I do wish the right side was cropped just a bit which would clean up the right side and make the image even stronger.
Judges Comment: There was just something about this image. I immediately liked it. The juxtaposition of the foreground and background action works well and there is really nothing else in the frame to distract. The boosted contrast and high degree of sharpening help this image.
Judges Comment: Very humorous image and I love the ground and background which help accentuate the subject. I do wish the photographer carried a bit more detail in the extended arm and especially in the pink. The image is much stronger with greater detail.
Judges Comment: Great composition and use of selective focus really help to make this a very strong and interesting image.
Judges Comment: The reaction of the women in the background is great. Don't know if this is simply a snack before the ceremony or a last meal but it has a very nice feel to to it.
Judges Comment: The emotional response of the groom is a nice touch and both the toning and technical merits of this image are well done.
Judges Comment: Nice emotion and nice toning. I don't know if the little dots were added to make the image look aged or whether it was simply a case of a dirty sensor. Personally, I would have removed them as I find it distracting.
Judges Comment: Very funny image. I love all of the elements like the cat and the woman in the background. I think if the camera angle was slightly higher up that the image would have been significantly stronger as there would have been much less of the ceiling.
Judges Comment: The large shoes draw the eye from the foreground to the background which really aids the composition here. Nice job with toning. I wish the lines on the left side were straightened.
Judges Comment: The view in the mirror is a nice perspective. The toning and the composition are handled well. I wish there was a bit more detail on the left side. I probably would have also cropped in a bit on the left side as the bottom left is distracting.
Judges Comment: Great look on the grooms face. There is a bit of flare on the left side which should be cleaned up but still a nice image.
Judges Comment: A very nice rendition of this scene. Toning is nicely done and there is good detail in both highlights and shadows. I wish that both the groom and what I assume is his father were both adjusting their cuffs but still a very nice image.
Judges Comment: Very nice image. There is an apprehensive look in the grooms face which really helps this image. The image is very well composed with good detail in both highlights and shadows.
Judges Comment: A nice moment well composed. The vignetting helps to draw attention towards the center of the frame which is a nice touch.
Judges Comment: The selective use of color is interesting. I do wish I could see a little more of the grooms face but it is still a nice image.
Judges Comment: Nice expression on the grooms face and nice composition. I would like to see more detail in the bride who is a bit to hot and should be toned down.
Judges Comment: I like the toning and muted color. The image says quite a lot about the groom. I wish there was a bit better detail in the face and the highlights and overall the image would be stronger if the midtones had a bit more contrast.
Judges Comment: A bit bizarre which makes this image rather interesting. I think this image would have been a lot stronger if the photographer moved over a bit so that the light pole wasn't protruding out of the balloon.
Judges Comment: I like seeing the juxtaposition of the groom ironing and the bride in the background. The image is well exposed and well composed.
Judges Comment: I like the composition and love the gesture created by the two folks on the right, presumably mom and dad contrasting the expression on the groom. I wish there was better detail in the highlights which could have easily been accomplished by processing this image once for the highlights and once for the shadows but it is still a nice image.
