Creative Portrait of Bride Alone:
Judges Comment: From the body language and the expression of the bride to the framing of the scene and the toning of the image, everything about this image is superb. It has a wonderfully elegant mood to it. The photographer selected a great untraditional location for this bridal portrait. It’s a beauty.
Judges Comment: Now this is how to frame an image. The photographer used color and space tremendously well. Although the bride is small in the frame, she stands out in the image. It’s both colorful and quiet at the same time.
Judges Comment: What an elegant portrait. The veil envelops the bride’s face beautifully and her arms are so delicately placed. Her peaceful smile, along with the subtle toning, makes this an exquisite photograph.
Judges Comment: This is a hip portrait. The high-key lighting and toning combine to create a uniquely different image of a bride. The negative space is used extremely well.
Judges Comment: The whole image has a vintage ambience to it. The posing of the bride — her back, the position of her hands — works beautifully. The photographer did a masterful job toning this image.
Judges Comment: This image looks like it’s out of a Fellini movie with its brick street and European ambience. The photographer captures the expression on the bride’s face as she joyfully looks over her shoulder. It’s a fun image as well.
Judges Comment: It’s a nice portrait of the bride that also captures a great sense of place. The toning is exceptional; it brings out the bride and establishes an enchanting mood.
Judges Comment: This portrait works because of several factors: the pleasing expression and delicate hand gesture of the bride, the soft directional side lighting, the unique framing and the effective toning. It’s appealing on many levels.
Judges Comment: This is a joyous portrait of a bride. Framing her in the tall archway, with light streaming down on her, combined with a dark background created an extraordinary image.
Judges Comment: This is a simple, yet captivating, portrait of a bride. The framing in this black and white image are superbly executed. It’s a nice image.
Judges Comment: This is just a joyful and well-done photo. It’s a happy moment with a great expression on the bride’s face. Nice light.
Judges Comment: A moody portrait of a bride on the beach. She stands out subtly in the photograph but the dramatic scene does not overpower her. This is because of the good toning qualities.
Judges Comment: The colorful scene makes this photograph work well. The effective use of lighting brings out the bride in the image. It’s an appealing image.
Judges Comment: A very simple and elegant image. The window light streaming down on the bride helps create the ambient mood.
Judges Comment: A very different portrait. Muted colors and tight framing intrigue the viewer. It looks like a fashion photograph from a magazine.
Judges Comment: The circle on the ground combined with the way the bride’s dress is draped work to create an appealing portrait. The facial expression is peaceful yet alluring. It’s difference and it works.
Judges Comment: This image makes you go directly to the bride’s eyes. This has tight framing, a subtle facial gesture and wonderful de-saturated toning.
Judges Comment: The colors and textures make this simple portrait artistic. The beauty of the bride is intensified in this photo.
Judges Comment: The photographer kept this scene simple. Window lighting and nice framing, along with using the texture of the bride’s dress, make this stand out.
Judges Comment: This was a good attempt at a different type of portrait. The busy carpet does somewhat distract you from the bride and her gown.
