Creative Portrait of Groom Alone:
Judges Comment: This is just a very cool scene, like something out of a James Bond movie. It’s a powerful, yet elegant image. Very good use of available light to make an interesting portrait.
Judges Comment: The photographer used a good combination of the graphics in the scene and the strong ray of sunlight to make this pleasing portrait. The color of the suit blends in with the background, making the face stand out pleasantly.
Judges Comment: The groom looks relaxed and powerful and that shows through in this image. He’s definitely “king of the world” on this day. The way the light hits the smoke coming from his cigar adds a strong element to the photo.
Judges Comment: Just a nice, straightforward image. The groom’s expression and body language are very inviting. The high-key works well.
Judges Comment: The repetitive circles from the pipes make for an interesting place in which to shoot a portrait. It’s a fun and pleasing image. Good toning brings out the details in the sky.
Judges Comment: The groom pops out in this well-lit portrait. The casual body language and simple toning are helpful to the picture.
Judges Comment: The photographer took advantage of the moment to make an intriguing, untraditional portrait. Love the groom’s shoes, the colors and the good use of negative space. It all works.
Judges Comment: Despite the mismatched patterns in the chair and socks, this portrait stands out because of the groom’s serious expression. The dramatic lighting adds to the allure of the photo.
Judges Comment: This is a very different image of the groom. The effective toning and use of a silhouetted figure make for an evocative portrait.
Judges Comment: A casual portrait. The pattern of lines in the wall forms another element in the picture. The black and white, high-key toning keeps the image simple.
Judges Comment: A nice, soft moment. The strong, directional side lighting draws you into the groom’s face and his hands adjusting the flower. The slight tilt in the image adds some tension.
Judges Comment: Effective toning in this de-saturated portrait. The groom’s face and the texture of his clothes stand out amid his surroundings.
Judges Comment: This photographer catches a nice expression on the groom’s face. Lighting is nice but the toning seems a bit flat.
Judges Comment: A good expression on the groom’s face makes this photo work. Simple but nice.
Judges Comment: Everything about this photo works but the groom is a bit expressionless. Very good toning.
Judges Comment: A pleasing, well-lit photo with a slight, untraditional bent. Fun.
Judges Comment: Framing is nice but toning isn’t as strong. The subject doesn’t separate from the background enough but otherwise a decent portrait.
Judges Comment: A different kind of portrait with the groom’s head back toward the light. The colors work well.
Judges Comment: This quiet photo shows reflection and makes the viewer pause. The de-saturation of color keeps the image simple.
Judges Comment: Good attempt to frame this portrait with the architecture of the scene. It’s a casual portrait.
