Judges Comment: Strong graphic appeal and great composition.

Judges Comment: There were a lot of strong images in this category. I tended to gravitate toward images – like this one- that told the whole story in one frame. I loved the moment in this picture and the mood created by the light. It is a great gift for the bride and groom to have a shot like this for their first dance.

Judges Comment: Great color and lighting made this image really work, plus the toss was captured as the right spot. I loved the inclusion of the disco ball in the frame- it gave a nice sense of place.

Judges Comment: This image was subtle, but the layers of people really made it work. I loved the reaction of the people on the bus. It was nice “seeing” by the photographer.

Judges Comment: The cigarette break captures the mood outside or after the party. Great way to complete the story of the day. The falling snow is a nice touch. Good composition and use of black and white.

Judges Comment: Emotional moment well framed and composed. I love the candles in the foreground and the subjects in the background.

Judges Comment: Very nice ambiance and composition. I love the out of focus areas framing the subject.

Judges Comment: This image felt like something off a movie set to me. The lighting of the cigar was in the right light and the photographer was as the right spot. I get really mad when people say “photographers are great because of the equipment they use.” This image is a great example of skill and good use of available light – that’s what makes a photographer great!

Judges Comment: Strong moment, mood, expressions, composition and lighting. Great job of capturing the “grandeur” of the event.
