Ceremony: The most stunning images with the greatest opportunity for visual harmony and alliteration come from wedding ceremonies. The ceremony starts with the pre-show, climaxes with the vow exchange and finishes with the receiving line.
Judges Comment: Very strong graphic with the repetitive arches and blowing veil. The more I look at this the more I like it.
Judges Comment: The low camera angle, arches, clouds, backlit material and strong contrast create lots of drama and interest.
Judges Comment: Love the composition and the pale yellows really help to carry this image.
Judges Comment: Excellent storytelling. The flower girl’s expression perfectly captures her anticipation.
Judges Comment: Nice moment captured well and love the little bit of yellow in the back which really adds strength to the image.
Judges Comment: Children are the scene-stealers in this category. The child’s face tells us all we need to know. And I like how the guests in the background are unaware of his antics.
Judges Comment: This is a wonderful and fun moment. The two separate moments play off of each other beautifully. This photographer was rewarded for their careful observation.
Judges Comment: The layering creates interest, although a bit foreboding.
Judges Comment: Because this is one of those rare times when everybody’s body language is perfect, my eye goes immediately to the bride and the child. The photographer does a great job setting up the story for the viewer. I want to know what happened next.
Judges Comment: Love the complimentary colors dropping into the vase. The rest of the image really works with this strong color in the center.
Judges Comment: The surfboard creates unexpected interest in addition to the great timing to capture the expressions and texture of the falling rice.
Judges Comment: There are so many challenges trying to capture a moment like this, but the photographer makes it look easy. I love the subtle colors created from the backlighting. The reaction from the guests and their body language is priceless.
Judges Comment: I love how the two moments play off of each other. It feels genuine and intimate, but I don’t understand the loose crop. The extra shoulder on right side of the frame makes no sense.
Judges Comment: Really like this composition and muted color.
Judges Comment: This is an image that takes you by surprise. At first glance it looks random, but as you look closer the carefully considered composition completes the narrative of the missing mother.
